What to Bring and Wear

In the rainforest of the Loving Light Amazon Lodge there is neither a rainy nor dry season as in most tropical areas.  Just four degrees south of the equator, we have only two "seasons."

From December through May is our "high water" season caused by melting snow from the mountains during their summer and from the rainy season in the upper jungle.

From approximately June-November is our "low-water" season.

While the water level can change more than 45 feet, our climate, warm and humid, is relatively constant throughout the year.  Normal daytime highs are 88 degrees F and night time lows are 72 degrees F.

Obviously, don't forget your passport.  No visa for U.S. visitors  is required.  Visit your public health department or physician at least six weeks before your departure for all your necessary shots as well as prescriptions for malaria pills.

Light, drip-dry cotton or safari clothing, at least one long-sleeved shirt (for evening treks), hiking or rubber boots (jungle trails can become very muddy), tennis shoes, raincoat or poncho, insect repellent, toilet paper (in many public restrooms, you'll find toilets but no TP), toilet articles, sun glasses.  Electricity is 220 volts, 60 hertz.

Also, bring plenty of film, camera, binoculars, small flashlight, and a sense of adventure!
